Unwanted Medication Disposal
The age-old advice of flushing pharmaceuticals down the toilet is now considered to be the least desirable of all alternatives. Recent U.S. Geological Survey studies have found traces of painkillers, estrogen, antidepressants, blood-pressure medicines, etc. in water samples from 30 states. Studies have linked hormone exposure to reproductive defects in fish, and environmental exposure to antibiotics to the development of drug resistant germs. Help protect our rivers by properly disposing of unwanted medication at the locations listed below. For additional information click here. View our commercial. Allen County residents have two options for the disposal of unwanted medications: Year-Round Program Northwest Southwest Central East ONLY PILLS ARE ACCEPTED THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS (liquid medications can be dried by adding sawdust, kitty litter, or flour, and then thrown away).
